“We continue to expand our presence in the Middle East to align with our customers’ demands for technologies that help them improve accuracy and productivity in clinical diagnostic testing,” said Syed Jafry, senior vice president and president of Asia-Pacific and emerging markets at Thermo Fisher Scientific. “We are uniquely positioned to help these customers drive innovation and productivity in their labs, and ultimately deliver better patient care at lower costs.”

The company will feature its industry-leading portfolio at booths #RF30 and #RE39 during the Arab Health Conference, being held at the Dubai International Convention & Exhibition Centre January 26 – 29, 2015.

Innovation to Improve Clinical Accuracy

With more than $700 million in annual R&D spending worldwide, Thermo Fisher continues to strengthen its portfolio of innovative solutions. For example, the newly launched, semi-conductor-based Ion PGM Dx Sequencer enables diagnostic laboratories to perform cost-effective, targeted gene panel sequencing. The PGM Dx system delivers the speed and simplicity of the Ion Torrent platform, combined with key workflow advantages designed specifically for regulated laboratory environments and in-vitro diagnostic applications.

The company will also showcase its high-performance sample prep and liquid chromatography system, the Thermo Scientific Prelude HPLC systemwhich offers exceptional speed, reproducibility and reliability for clinical research and toxicology laboratories. The Prelude system pairs seamlessly with the Thermo Scientific Endura Triple-Stage Quadrupole Mass Spectrometer, which was designed to deliver higher uptime than any competing triple quadrupole instrument.

The Thermo Scientific Heracell VIOS series of incubators represents a new era in innovation for the conventional laboratory incubator, offering an advanced design for sensitive cultures like stem and primary cells in leading research, pharmaceutical and clinical applications. State-of-the-art engineering defines the Thermo Scientific TSU Series ultra-low temperature freezers, which offer outstanding thermal performance, safety and security for critical laboratory samples.

Solutions to Drive Productivity

The new Thermo Scientific Q Exactive Focus LC-MS/MS is designed to make the qualitative and quantitative power of Orbitrap-based instruments available to customers who use quadrupole time-of-flight (Q-TOF) mass spectrometry. Productivity in the clinical laboratory relies on instruments that run with minimal user input and offer on-demand access. For example, the Thermo Scientific Kryptor Compact Plus, a fully automated, random-access immunoassay system, offers users long intervals between recalibration, continuous specimen loading and can make several hundred determinations without changing reagents. Another reagent saver, the Thermo Scientific Excelsior AS Tissue Processor, allows users to swap one bottle of each reagent—rather than all of them—to reduce waste. In addition, the instrument draws directly from the bottle, eliminating the need (and risk) of pouring chemicals in the laboratory.

Maximizing the space in the clinical lab remains a high priority, as laboratories are asked to run more samples in the same footprint. The Thermo Scientific Heraeus Megafuge 8 Small Benchtop Centrifuge, featuring a smart, simple interface and exceptional capacity in a compact design. Another fast, compact benchtop system, the Thermo Scientific KingFisher Duo Magnetic Particle Processor is a perfect match for research and diagnostic laboratories requiring nucleic acid purification. The simple-to-use QuantStudio 3D Digital PCR System offers load-and-go access to digital PCR, with impressive features such as a 24-chip capacity and a 30-second-per-chip read time.

These instruments will be present together with the latest benchtop instruments to enable sequencing sample preparation and quality control including the new Qubit 3.0 Fluorometer and the SimpliAmp Thermal Cycler.

Reducing errors and taking the guesswork out of the vital steps in the laboratory drives efficiency in the clinical lab—allowing technicians to focus on the most value-added tasks in diagnostics. Driving such confidence and efficiency are innovations such as the Thermo Scientific E1- ClipTip pipetting system, which automates daily 96-and 384-well microplate pipetting tasks with the sealed in security of Thermo Scientific ClipTip technology that locks tips in place until ejected.

Automated instruments—from the Countess II FL Automated Cell Counter to new cassette labelers and slide printers complement the vast array of consumables, software and services available at the Thermo Fisher Scientific booth.
