Thermo Fisher Scientific India headquartered in Mumbai has more than two thousand employees deployed in over 40 cities and offices across 17 locations. Thermo Fisher has established a considerable commercial footprint in India with eight distribution centers, eight manufacturing facilities, five application labs and two R&D centers, well supported by an extensive network of more than 400 channel partners who ensure that products and services are easily accessible to our customers.

In India, the company has experienced double-digit growth in the last five years with revenues greater than $300 million annually. The company globally has invested $1 billion in R&D in 2018 to help customers solve complex analytical challenges and enhance their productivity.

Thermo Fisher’s local manufacturing and R&D footprint is a testimony to our commitment to build local capabilities in India.  Our demonstration and manufacturing facilities in Mumbai, Bangalore, Gurgaon and Nasik support the pre and post sales application needs of our customers. Our expansion in the chemical business (acquired from Qualigens) includes toll-conversion facilities and a new centralized warehouse provide easy access to stakeholders seeking to choose the right products. In addition, we also have manufacturing facilities at Chakan that provide customized and integrated solutions for environment and process monitoring. Thermo Fisher’s ‘Centre of Excellence’ for software and cloud technology development in Bangalore and the R&D center for antibodies in Hyderabad are actively engaged in developing cutting edge technology for our markets. We also have a Chromatography Center of Excellence in Ahmedabad to support customers on method development and provide faster solutions to solve complex R&D and quality challenges.

In 2019, we opened the Food Safety Solution Center in Ghaziabad. The Center is an outcome of the collaborative efforts between the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) and Thermo Fisher to bring world-class food testing capabilities to the country.

Thermo Fisher India has also set up a new clinical trials facility in the Domestic Tariff Area (DTA), Ahmedabad to better serve the pharmaceutical customer base in the country. This facility will help customers meet the increasing need for supply chain management in the clinical trial space focused on local products for India’s market.  In February 2021, the company announced the opening of a new manufacturing facility in Bengaluru. This state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Bengaluru will produce Applied Biosystem’s CoviPath RT-PCR testing kit. The investment strengthens our commitment towards the COVID-19 response in India.

The company in March 2021 also signed an MoU with the National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU to establish the NFSU-Thermo Fisher Scientific Centre of Excellence for DNA forensics in Gandhinagar, Gujarat. Technology innovation, automation, databases, and good laboratory practices are essential to the pursuit of justice. The objective of Thermo Fisher’s collaboration with NFSU is to bring together leading minds and instrumentation, supporting the development of workflows and integrated solutions designed to increase efficiencies, and bring awareness regarding the advancements in DNA forensics.  The collaboration will take us a step closer in making the world a safer place to live.
