Meeting the needs of both highly configurable cGMP and cost-effective research applications, the new bioreactor controllers will be sold under the Thermo Scientific brand for use across its Thermo Scientific single-use systems and have been integrated and tested with Thermo Scientific Single-Use Bioreactors (S.U.B.) to ensure robust function, fast setup and ease of operation. The specific functions of the bioreactor are preconfigured to ensure optimal communication, robust function and reduce setup and install time.
“Thermo Fisher and Finesse have a long history of successful collaboration, not only through integrating S.U.B.s as one option of our open architecture approach, but also through development of the OEM HyPerforma S.U.B. TK system,” said Millie Ullah, senior product manager, single-use technology, Thermo Fisher Scientific. “The launch of this new product line strengthens our supply agreement, reinforces our relationship and provides our customers with assurance that we are jointly committed to supporting our customers’ needs.”
A leading supplier of single-use sensors and automation systems to the biopharma market, Finesse Solutions offers three controller platforms: Delta V is ideal for highly configurable cGMP applications; PC for economical research applications; and Finesse G3Lite, a highly flexible solution that it is both cost effective for research yet highly robust.
With more than 250 collaborative projects, Thermo Fisher offers customers seamless support for single-use systems enabled by Thermo Scientific single-use bioreactors and Finesse single-use sensors and automation systems. The Thermo Scientific Single-Use Bioreactor solution, introduced in September 2013, combines the best features from hundreds of single-use stirred tank bioreactors in use today with Finesse’s state-of-the-art G3Lite OEM controller in either PC or Delta V configurations.
“The Thermo Scientific single-use systems continue to represent a significant opportunity for our universal G3-series controllers as well as our single-use TruFluor and TruTorr sensors,” said Barbara Paldus, CEO of Finesse. “By combining our G3Lite controller with the S.U.B., we have created a highly flexible solution that it is both cost effective for research yet highly robust for single-use cGMP production. By leveraging Finesse SmartParts, the G3Lite controller also enables efficient scale-up from process development and rapid implementation of production capacity.”
