MUNICH – Analytica 2012 – (April 17, 2012) – Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc., the world leader in serving science, is debuting two new high-pressure capillary ion chromatography (IC) systems at Analytica 2012: the Thermo Scientific Dionex ICS-4000, the world’s first commercially available integrated capillary high-pressure ion chromatography (HPIC™) system, and the modular Thermo Scientific Dionex ICS-5000 capillary HPIC system. The new high-pressure capability delivers fast separations and high resolution with the new 4µm particle columns. The company is featuring the new IC systems, along with complementary technology, within Thermo Scientific booth 101/202 (Hall B1) during Analytica 2012, being held April 17– 20, in Munich.
The Dionex ICS-5000 capillary HPIC system is a flexible system suitable for a broad range of laboratory workflows and advanced applications. It offers increased resolution with 4 µm-particle-size columns that enable users to discover peaks they may have been missing. As with prior Dionex systems, this is a Reagent-Free™ instrument that uses deionized water to electrolytically generate high-purity eluents, designed to save time, labor and operating costs. Removing this manual process also reduces inconsistencies and increases reproducibility. The system consumes only 5.25 L of water per year at typical capillary flow rates and produces little waste.
The sleek Reagent-Free Dionex ICS-4000 capillary HPIC system conserves laboratory space, simplifies operation and enhances overall system performance. To maximize the compound information obtained in a single run, it integrates conductivity (CD), electrochemical (ED) and the new Thermo Scientific Dionex QD charge detectors to offer enhanced sensitivity and linearity for weakly dissociated ions such as organic acids, amines and silicate – all compounds that are not easily detected using conductivity detection alone.
The Thermo Scientific Dionex IonPac 4 µm ion-exchange columns, designed for both the ICS-4000 and ICS-5000, use smaller resin particles than previous columns for more efficient separation of commonly analyzed inorganic anions, organic acids, cations and small polar amines in a variety of sample matrices. The new Dionex IonPac™ columns enable laboratories to optimize their separations to simultaneously achieve higher resolution and higher flow rates.
