The enhancements to our Clinical LIMS solution deliver greater data management control to the users who are most likely to make material contributions to the business: researchers and technicians
Dateline:
HOUSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--For researchers and technicians in clinical laboratories, especially those that serve the emerging fields of translational and personalized medicine, Thermo Scientific Clinical LIMS (laboratory information management system) software is designed to combine the sample-centric functionality of a LIMS with the patient-centric functionality inherent in a traditional LIS. Thermo Scientific Clinical LIMS bridges the gap between the two and delivers a complete, streamlined solution. This latest release includes enhancements that simplify even the most complex laboratory and patient management workflows.
Clinical LIMS software is designed to emulate laboratory processes via an intuitive graphical interface and patented Workflow Manager, biospecimen and plate management and enable full instrument integration and automation, including robotics and advanced next-gen sequencing. It enables bi-directional communication between physicians and the lab via a dedicated Lab Web Portal that supports a laboratory’s end-to-end clinical business process.
New features in Clinical LIMS software make it even easier for users to design customized workflows without costly, time-consuming IT involvement. Enhancements include:
- The ability for system administrators to add any laboratory concept to the system. These user-defined dynamic entities (UDDEs) enable laboratories to model their exact process.
- An intuitively designed interface that enables researchers to easily move past set-up and into critical discovery. This includes rapid searching and enhanced plate editing capabilities.
- Easy-to-create customized views that simplify the end user experience and help guide users step by step through the process.
“The enhancements to our Clinical LIMS solution deliver greater data management control to the users who are most likely to make material contributions to the business: researchers and technicians,” said Kim Shah, director of marketing and new business development for the Informatics business at Thermo Fisher Scientific. “In today’s dynamic environment, clinical laboratories must be more agile than ever, ready to adapt as the businesses and funding sources supporting them transform. The lab- and patient-centric functionality built into Clinical LIMS software enables clinical and molecular diagnostics labs – which handle massive quantities of genetic data – to be as flexible as the industry requires.”
Clinical LIMS software also enables full compliance with key industry regulations related to protecting patient privacy (HIPAA) and clinical testing (CLIA). The solution supports the most widely used ANSI-accredited standard for interoperability of health information technology (HL7) and enables laboratories to operate in compliance with GLP and 21 CFR Part 11.
